4 Stages of Acne and its Treatment

Your skin has tiny holes across it called pores that have hair follicles and oil glands inside them. If your pores become clogged with dead skin cells, oil, or bacteria, acne is formed.

When you go through hormonal changes, like those experienced during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause, these oil glands can go into overdrive, making acne more likely to appear.

While every breakout isn’t preventable, there are many ways to help keep your skin clear. The first line of defence is having a skin care routine that keeps your face clean and hydrated. Additionally, you should:

• Drink plenty of water
• Eat a balanced diet
• Frequently change your pillowcases
• Avoid overwashing your face
• Reduce stress
• Only use non-comedogenic skincare products
• Fully remove any makeup each night
