Ventolin Nebules

The Ventolin brand of salbutamol nebules is no longer being manufactured. Ventolin is used in the treatment of severe bronchial spasm (closure of air passages in the lungs) associated with asthma attacks and in other processes associated with reversible obstruction of the airways. These are a group of lung diseases that cause inflammation of the airways causing a blockage in the airflow in the lungs. It is usually given to people who have enough of these situations when other forms of treatment do not relieve them enough.

What are Ventolin Nebules?

The Ventolin Asthma inhaler belongs to a group of medicines called fast-acting bronchodilators. Quick-acting bronchodilators relax the muscles in the walls of the small air passages in the lungs within minutes. This makes it easier to open the air passages and help relieve chest tightness, shortness of breath, and cough so that you can breathe easier during seasonal asthma. Ventolin nebulizer inhalation solution is indicated in adults, adolescents, and children from 4 to 11 years. For babies and children under 4 years of age, consult your doctor.

How does Ventolin Nebules work?

The main active ingredient in this Ventolin machine is Salbutamol. The tert-butyl group in salbutamol is made to prefer β2,8 receptors which are the primary receptors in bronchial smooth muscle. When these receptors are activated, adenylyl cyclase converts ATP to cAMP, which begins signal transduction. It inhibits myosin phosphorylation and lowers intracellular calcium ion concentration — myosin phosphorylation and calcium ions are necessary for muscle contraction. Increased cAMP also inhibits inflammatory cells in the airway — such as basophils, eosinophils, and especially mast cells — from secreting inflammation mediators and cytokines.9 10 Salbutamol and the other β2 agonists also increases the conduction of channels that react to the concentration of calcium or potassium ions, and this leads to hyperpolarization and relaxation of the bronchial smooth muscles

What are the benefits of using Ventolin Nebules?

Ventolin 100 micrograms/inhalation suspension for inhalation under pressure, is indicated in adults, adolescents and children from 4 to 11 years, in the following cases:

  • Rescue medication in mild, moderate, or severe asthma.
  • Prevention of bronchospasm (shortness of breath or wheezing) induced by physical exercise or before exposure to a known and unavoidable allergenic stimulus.

How do I use Ventolin Nebules & its dosage?

Instructions for use:

Ventolin 100 micrograms/inhalation pressurized inhalation suspension produces a fine mist that is inhaled through the mouth into the lungs. Your doctor or pharmacist should tell you how to use the inhaler device. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Checking the inhaler:

Before using the inhaler for the first time, remove the mouthpiece protector by gently squeezing the sides, shake the inhaler thoroughly, and release two doses into the air to ensure the functioning of the inhaler. If the inhaler has not been used for 5 or more days, shake it thoroughly and release 2 doses into the air to make sure it works.

Inhaler use:

  1. Remove the mouthpiece guard by gently squeezing the sides.
  2. Check that there are no foreign particles inside and outside the inhaler, including the mouthpiece.
  3. Shake the inhaler well to make sure that any foreign particles are removed and that the contents of the inhaler are mixed properly.
  4. Hold the inhaler vertically between the index and thumb fingers, placing the thumb on the base, below the mouthpiece. Give as much air as reasonably possible.
  5. Then insert the mouthpiece into the mouth, between the teeth, closing the lips on the device, but without biting it.
  6. Immediately after starting to breathe in, press the inhaler to release the salbutamol, and continue to breathe deeply and constantly.
  7. Hold your breath, take the inhaler out of your mouth, and remove the index finger from the top of the inhaler. Continue to hold your breath as long as reasonably possible.
  8. If another inhalation is to be administered, keep the inhaler upright and wait for approximately half a minute before repeating steps 3 to 7.
  9. Put on the mouthpiece guard by pushing firmly and snapping shut so that the cap is in place.

Its dosage

Always use this Asthma treatment medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.

Remember to use your medicine.

Your doctor will indicate the duration of your Ventolin treatment. Do not stop treatment earlier.

Ventolin 100 micrograms/inhalation pressurized inhalation suspension produces a fine mist that must be inhaled into the lungs. Make sure you know how to use the inhaler correctly. If you have any problem ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The recommended dose to relieve an acute attack is:

Adults: one application (100 micrograms) or two applications (200 micrograms).

Children 12 years and older: one application (100 micrograms) or two applications (200 micrograms).

Children under 12 years: one application (100 micrograms). Your doctor can increase it up to two applications (200 micrograms).

The use of Ventolin 100 micrograms/inhalation suspension for inhalation in a pressurized container on demand should not exceed four times a day. The need for additional use or a sudden increase in dose indicates a worsening of asthmatic disease.

The recommended dose to prevent an attack during exercise is:

Adults: one application (100 micrograms) or two applications (200 micrograms) before exercise.

Children 12 years and older: one application (100 micrograms) or two applications (200 micrograms) before exercise.

Children under 12 years: one application (100 micrograms) before exercise. Your doctor may increase up to two applications (200 micrograms)

The recommended dose for continued use is:

Adults, children from 12 years old and under 12 years old: up to two applications (200 micrograms) four times a day.

Generally, the maximum dose to be taken in 24 hours is 8 applications (800 micrograms).

You should not inhale more applications or use your inhaler more frequently than your doctor tells you.

Your doctor may direct you to inhale more applications as emergency treatment if your "whistles" or breathing worsens. It is important that you follow your doctor's instructions regarding the number of applications and their frequency.

Some people may find it difficult to release an app just before vacuuming. Inhalation chambers help solve this problem. Your doctor or pharmacist will advise you.
