About Skinoren Cream
The main component, azelaic acid, works in two ways. It acts to reduce the growth of keratin surface skin cells. These surface cells can mix with sebum, which is a natural oily substance produced by the skin in the sebaceous glands. When keratin skin cells mix with sebum they can form a plug, blocking the pores on the skin.
Skinoren cream also kills the bacteria associated with acne (propionibacterium). This common bacteria feeds on the sebum produced by the skin. This feeding causes propionibacterium to produce waste products and fatty acids that irritate the sebaceous glands, causing them to become infected and inflamed and resulting in acne symptoms.
Azelaic acid also has the ability to lighten the skin by affecting melanin production, which is why some people use it to treat hyperpigmentation or dark underarm skin.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years: before applying for this medicine, you should thoroughly clean the skin with plenty of water, and then dry it. You can also use a mild skin cleansing agent.
The recommended dose is:
Apply to the affected areas of the skin 2 times a day (morning and night), with a gentle massage. Approximately 2.5 cm of cream is sufficient for the entire area of the face.
Wash your hands after each application.
If you experience significant skin irritation when applying for this medicine, you should reduce the amount of cream per application and/or the frequency of application to once a day or both until the irritation disappears. Or you can stop the treatment for a few days if necessary. Consult your doctor if irritation persists.
The duration of treatment varies from person to person and also depends on the severity of the skin condition. It is important that you use this medicine regularly throughout the treatment period.
In general, in patients with acne, a marked improvement is usually seen after approximately 4 weeks of treatment. To achieve optimal results, it is recommended to use Skinoren for several months, it could be used continuously for up to 12 months, depending on the result obtained.
Use in children and adolescents
When the cream is applied in adolescents (between 12 and 18 years of age) it is not necessary to modify the doses in relation to adults. The safety and efficacy of Skinoren in children below 12 years of age have not been established.
