People also ask

What is Wegovy?

Wegovy is an injectable treatment designed to encourage weight loss. When used with a balanced diet and an exercise regime, it can help to reduce weight in patients whose BMI (Body Mass Index) is over 30.

How does Wegovy work?

Wegovy is comprised of the drug Semaglutide, which belongs to a family of medicines known as glucagon-like peptide agonists. Semaglutide can also be found in other weight loss/diabetic medication - such as Ozempic

GLP-1 agonists work by mimicking and copying the natural work of hormones called incretins. Incretins are a group of hormones that control the functions of the pancreas. GLP-1 agonists act on the pancreas by increasing insuling production and reducing glucagon levels in the body.

To help promote weight loss within the body, the GLP-1 agonists also cause the stomach to slow down gastric emptying, stimulating a fuller feeling and ultimately promotes weight loss.

What are the benefits of using Wegovy?

According to the Wegovy website, a 68 week medical study was carried out on 1961 adults who were all suffering from obesity or health problems that resulted in excess weight gain. They were instructed to use Wegovy in conjunction with a strict calorie deficit and physical activity and have overall found by the end of the testing period that adults on average achieved a 15% decrease in weight compared to people who had only lost nearly 3% using a placebo.

In having to maintain strict practices in order to utilise this medicine to the fullest, you'll also get into some good practices, such as a healthier diet and an increase in physical activity.
