People also ask

What is Timodine cream?

Timodine cream acts as a corticosteroid (anti-inflammatory), which is used on the skin to decrease the inflammation of certain skin problems. Decreases redness (erythema), fluid buildup (edema), and exudate on inflamed skin, and relieves itching, burning, or pain.

Timodine cream is indicated for the local treatment of inflammatory and itchy manifestations of skin diseases that respond to corticosteroids, such as:

  • Acute forms of mild to moderate eczema, related to an external cause, such as:
  • Allergy to a substance that has come into contact with the skin (allergic contact dermatitis).
  • Allergic reactions to commonly used substances such as soap (irritant contact dermatitis).
  • Unspecified eczema (eczema Vulgaris).
  • Eczema related to patient factors (endogenous eczema), such as atopic dermatitis or neurodermatitis.
  • Skin rash with inflammation and peeling (seborrheic eczema).
  • It helps in the treatment of psoriasis (a reddish scaly condition often covered by silver scales).

You can only purchase the Timodine cream with a prescription.

How does it work?

This antifungal medication contains four active ingredients, hydrocortisone, nystatin, benzalkonium chloride, and dimethicone.

Hydrocortisone is a type of medication known as a corticosteroid (or steroid). Corticosteroids are hormones naturally produced by the adrenal glands and have many important functions, including controlling inflammatory responses.

Hydrocortisone is used to decrease inflammation in the skin. When applied to the skin, it is absorbed by the skin cells. Here it works by preventing the release of certain chemicals from cells. These chemicals are important in the immune system and are released as a result of irritation. They cause the blood vessels to widen, causing the affected area of the skin to become red, swollen, itchy, and painful. By decreasing the release of these chemicals in the skin, hydrocortisone reduces inflammation and relieves swelling, redness, and itching.

What are the benefits of taking it?

Timodine is used for itchy and inflamed areas on the skin caused by a fungal infection (often Candida Albicans) associated with a bacterial infection. This medicine helps, among other things:

  • Inflamed eczema
  • Skin rash on the skin folds (for example, under the breasts, between the thighs, around the genitals, and around the anus)
  • Severe forms of diaper rash

Timodine relieves symptoms such as itching, redness, and thickening of the skin. At the same time, fungi and bacteria on the skin are killed so that the infection can recover.

How do I use it and its dosage?

Apply a thin layer of Ezcema and psoriasis medication to the inflamed areas and carefully massage the cream into the skin. Do not use the cream in or around the eyes. Wash your hands well after using it. A doctor determines how long you need to use the medicine. If you don't notice any improvement after a week, see your doctor. If you use Timodine to treat diaper rash, apply the cream to dry and clean the skin after each change. Do not use Timodine in babies for more than seven days.

Dose

Unless the doctor indicates otherwise, the generally recommended dose of timodine is as follows:

Adults and children: apply a thin cream to the affected skin three times a day.

Young children and babies can only use this medicine after medical advice from their parents.

Warnings and precautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to use Timodine cream.

  • This medicine should be used in the lowest possible dose, especially in children, and only for the time strictly necessary to alleviate the skin condition.
  • Anti-inflammatory corticosteroids have important effects on the body. They should not be used on large areas of the body or for long periods of time, as this significantly increases the risk of adverse effects.
  • If a bacterial or fungal infection also appears, you should consult your doctor about your treatment. Corticosteroid medications can hide, activate, or worsen a skin infection.
  • You should avoid contact with the eyes, open wounds, or mucous membranes (for example, the mouth). If the medicine comes into contact with these areas, wash with plenty of water.
  • This medication should not be applied to skin folds, such as the groin or armpits.
  • This medicine should not be used under occlusive materials such as bandages, except under the supervision of the doctor. Diapers can act as occlusive bandages.
  • If you are being treated for psoriasis, special medical supervision is recommended.
  • If you use timodine cream for diseases other than those for which it has been prescribed, it may mask the symptoms and hinder correct diagnosis and treatment.
  • Contact your doctor if you have blurred vision or other visual disturbances.
