Taptiqom/Tafluprost+Timolol

Taptiqom is a medicinal eye drop solution that is indicated for the reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) in adult patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension with insufficient response to topical monotherapy with beta-blockers or prostaglandin analogues, requiring combination therapy and which would benefit from an eye drop without preservatives. Taptiqom is a fixed combination of two active ingredients, tafluprost, and timolol. These two principles active ingredients reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) through complementary mechanisms of action whose combined effect causes an additional reduction in IOP compared to each component individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Taptiqom eye drops, the solution contains tafluprost and timolol. Tafluprost is a medicine in the group called prostaglandin analogs, and timolol belongs to the group of medicines called beta-blockers. Tafluprost and timolol work together and reduce pressure on the eye. Taptiqom is used when the eye pressure is too high.

Taptiqom is a fixed combination of two active ingredients, tafluprost, and timolol. These two principles active ingredients reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) through complementary mechanisms of action whose combined effect causes an additional reduction in IOP compared to each component individually.

Tafluprost is a fluorinated analogue of prostaglandin F2α. Tafluprost acid, the metabolite biologically active tafluprost, is a highly potent and selective FP receptor agonist human prostanoid. Pharmacodynamic studies in monkeys indicate that tafluprost reduces pressure. intraocular by increasing uveoscleral outflow from the aqueous humor.

Timolol Maleate is a non-selective blocking agent for beta-adrenergic receptors. The mechanism of precise action of timolol maleate for the reduction of intraocular pressure has not been established clearly at the moment, although a fluorescein study and tone studies indicate that the Predominant performance may be related to reduced aqueous humor formation. However, some studies have also observed a slight increase in the generation of departure.

Taptiqom eye drop uses include being indicated to treat a type of glaucoma called open-angle glaucoma, a condition also called eye hypertension in adults. Both situations are related to increased pressure in the eye and can occasionally affect your vision.

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.

The recommended dose is one drop of Taptiqom daily in the affected eye or eyes. Do not instill more drops or do it more often than directed by your doctor. If you do so, Taptiqom may lose effectiveness. Use Taptiqom in both eyes only if your doctor has told you to. Dispose of the opened container and the remaining contents immediately after use.

For use as eye drops only. Do not eat.

Do not let the single-dose container touch the eye or the surrounding area. It could damage the eye. It could also become contaminated with bacteria that could cause eye infections that in turn cause damage to the eye, including loss of vision. To avoid possible contamination of the single-dose container, prevent the tip of the container from touching any surface.

Instructions for use:

When you open a new bag:

Do not use the single-dose container if the sachet is broken. Open the pouch by tearing along the dotted line. Write, in the space of the bag reserved for this purpose, the date that the bag was opened.

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Remove the packaging strip from the bag.
  3. Detach a single-dose container from the strip.
  4. Put the rest of the strip back in the bag and fold the edge to close it.
  5. To open the container, break the tab by turning it.
  6. Hold the container with your thumb and index finger. Note that the tip of the container does not protrude more than 5 mm from the edge of your index finger.
  7. Tilt your head back or lie down. Place your hand on your forehead. Your forefinger should be aligned with the eyebrow or rest on the bridge of the nose. Look up. Press down on the anterior eyelid with the other hand. Do not let any part of the container touch the eye or the surrounding area. Gently press down on the container so that a drop falls into the space between the eyelid and the eye.
  8. Close the eye and press the inner corner of the eye with your finger for about two minutes. This helps prevent the drop from going down the tear duct.
  9. Blot excess solution from the skin around the eye.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Most side effects are not serious.

You can usually continue using the drops except if the effects are severe. If in doubt, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
