People also ask

What is Inegy Simvastatin?

Inegy contains the active substances ezetimibe and simvastatin. Inegy is a medicine that is used to reduce concentrations of total cholesterol, "bad" cholesterol (LDL cholesterol), and some substances fats called triglycerides that circulate in the blood. In addition, Inegy increases the concentrations of "good" cholesterol (HDL cholesterol).

How does it work?

Cholesterol is derived from intestinal absorption and endogenous synthesis. Inegy (Ezetimibe/Simvastatin) contains ezetimibe and simvastatin, two lipid-lowering compounds with complementary mechanisms of action. Inegy (Ezetimibe/simvastatin) reduces high levels of total cholesterol (C-total), LDL-C, apolipoprotein B (Apo B), triglycerides (TG), and cholesterol not associated with high-density lipoprotein (C-note HDL) and increases cholesterol associated with high-density lipoproteins (HDL-C) through the double inhibition of cholesterol absorption and synthesis.

What are the benefits of taking it?

Inegy Ezetimibe/simvastatin is used in patients who cannot control their cholesterol levels through diet alone. While taking this medication you should follow a cholesterol-lowering diet. Ezetimibe/simvastatin is used, along with a cholesterol-lowering diet, if you have:

  • elevated blood levels of cholesterol (primary hypercholesterolemia [heterozygous familial and non-familial]) or elevated blood levels of fatty substances (mixed hyperlipidemia).
  • for when separate simvastatin and ezetimibe tablets have been used
  • homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, which increases the level of cholesterol in the blood. You may also receive other treatments
  • Heart disease, ezetimibe/simvastatin reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, surgery to increase blood flow to the heart, or hospitalization for chest pain.

How do I use it and its s dosage?

Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose per tablet for you, depending on your current treatment and your personal risk situation.

The tablets are not scored and must not be divided.

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.

Before you start taking Inegy, you must be on a cholesterol-lowering diet. You will need to continue this cholesterol-lowering diet while taking Inegy.

Adults: the dose is 1 tablet of Inegy once daily by mouth.

Use in adolescents (10-17 years of age): the dose is 1 tablet of Inegy once daily by mouth (a maximum dose of 10 mg / 40 mg once daily should not be exceeded).

The Inegy 10 mg / 80 mg dose is only recommended for adult patients with very high cholesterol levels and at high risk of heart disease problems who have not reached the goal of lower dose treatment.

Take Inegy in the evening. You can take it with or without food.

If your doctor has prescribed Inegy together with another cholesterol-lowering medicine containing the active substance cholestyramine or any other bile acid sequestrant, you should take Inegy at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after taking the bile acid sequestrant.
