These are pills used for controlling birth commonly referred to as ‘the pill’ which contains hormones that change the functioning of the body. The pills are a type of female contraception and are quite effective in preventing pregnancy. The two hormones found in the pills are a man-made form of progestin and oestrogen which occur naturally in a woman’s body. These hormones stops ovulation from taking place thus no egg is released during a woman’s menstrual cycle. Progestin as well makes the mucus found around the cervix to be thick and sticky thus preventing sperms from gaining entrance to the uterus.
