Premarin tablets are used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). This medication manages symptoms of the menopause. Premarin contains conjugated oestrogens, which emulate the female sex hormone oestrogen. During the menopause, the production of oestrogen in a woman’s ovaries gradually stops. This deficiency can lead to a number of symptoms, including hot flushes, depression, sleep problems, dryness and osteoporosis. For severe symptoms, you may be prescribed Premarin in order to supplement the body’s oestrogen levels. Premarin tablets are available in different strengths such as 0.625mg & 1.25mg
Premarin is a female hormone that is used for the treatment of symptoms related to menopause such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Apart from treating these symptoms, Premarin may be indicated in the treatment of osteoporosis in women after menopause. It is also used to treat cancers such as breast cancer or prostate cancer in women and men. It can also be used to replace oestrogen in women who cannot produce enough oestrogen due to hypogonadism.
When women reach menopause, the ovaries produce less oestrogen, which causes the symptoms of menopause. The conjugated oestrogens in Premarin act as oestrogen replacement hormones that can manage menopausal symptoms such as spotting, chills, sweating and hot flashes. Oestrogen deficiency may also cause osteoporosis in women, which can be treated by Premarin as well.
Premarin is made up of conjugated oestrogens, which is a mixture of oestrogens also known as oestrogen replacement therapy. Oestrogen is a female sex hormone that is produced by the ovaries and used by many processes in the body.
Premarin has the following benefits:
- Manages symptoms of menopause
- Treats osteoporosis caused by oestrogen deficiency
- May treat certain types of cancer in men and women
- Replaces natural oestrogen when the body is not able to produce it due to any reason
Premarin is an oral tablet that is to be taken by the mouth without chewing, crushing or dissolving the tablet. The medicine can be taken with or after a meal to reduce the chances of an upset stomach.
Premarin should be taken regularly as directed by your doctor for maximum benefit. Take it at the same time every day and follow the correct dosing schedule given by your doctor.
Premarin may be taken daily or for certain conditions your doctor may prescribe Premarin in a cycle. The dosage should be kept according to your doctor’s prescription.
If you miss a dose, you can take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, you should skip it. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you have missed.
