Before removing the white cap, make sure the counter and arrow on the cap are aligned. To open the inhaler, remove the white cap. Hold the inhaler upright, with the maroon base down. Hold the base and turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it. When you remove the cap, the dose counter on the inhaler will decrease by one unit.

Make sure the counter on the maroon base and the arrow on the counter are aligned with each other. Hold the inhaler up once the cap is removed and before inhaling your dose.

To inhale your dose:

Remove the cap from the inhaler.

1. Bring the inhaler to your mouth, with the mouthpiece facing you.
2. Put the mouthpiece of the inhaler in your mouth, close your lips around the mouthpiece and breathe in quickly and deeply.
3. Remove the inhaler from your mouth and hold your breath for about 10 seconds or whatever is comfortable for you. Never blow air out through the inhaler.
4. To close the inhaler, replace the cap immediately after each inhalation. The cap must be fully inserted and rotated so that the dose for the next inhalation is loaded. To do this, it must be turned clockwise while pressing down slightly until you hear a "click" indicating that the cap is fully closed. The arrow on the cap should be fully aligned with the counter window.

Its dosage

For adults (including those over 65 years of age) and adolescents over 12 years of age, with mild to moderate asthma, the recommended starting dose is 400 micrograms, once daily at night, needing Asmanex Twisthaler inhalation powder. Stop using Asmanex Twisthaler and tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms:

• Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction including swelling of the eyes, face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat that can cause difficulty swallowing or breathing, itchy rash, fainting, and dizziness that can cause fainting.
• If you notice an increased cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, or shortness of breath immediately after inhaling the medication, use your "reliever" inhaler and contact your doctor immediately.
• Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity) to inhaled corticosteroids may occur. If this occurs you may notice a rash, itching, and redness and swelling of the eyes, face, lips, and throat. If you experience any of these symptoms, notify your doctor immediately.
• The most frequently reported side effects
• include candida (yeast) infection in the mouth or throat (white spots), hoarseness, sore throat, or headache.
• Other rare side effects (affecting less than 1 in 100 patients) may be dry mouth and throat, indigestion, weight gain, and fast or pounding heartbeats (palpitations).
• On rare occasions (affecting less than 1 in 1,000 patients), patients receiving inhaled corticosteroids, including Asmanex Twisthaler, have experienced increased eye pressure (including glaucoma) or cataracts.
