Emla 5g Cream contains a combination in equal amounts of two anesthetics, lignocaine and prilocaine. These anesthetics are aminoamides that act directly on the nerve endings of the skin to block the generation and transmission of specific nerve impulses in a defined area, and this provides a reversible loss of sensitivity in superficial pain receptors.

People also ask

What is Emla?

Emla 5g cream is an anesthetic cream that is used a treatment for erectile dysfunction, known for being one of the best cure for ed, (it is composed of two anesthetic substances that are lidocaine and prilocaine) that relieves pain and is used in: On the skin, before minor interventions (such as punctures), or dermatological procedures (like photo epilation).

How does it work?

Emla 5g Cream contains a combination in equal amounts of two anesthetics, lignocaine and prilocaine. These anesthetics are aminoamides that act directly on the nerve endings of the skin to block the generation and transmission of specific nerve impulses in a defined area, and this provides a reversible loss of sensitivity in superficial pain receptors.

Lignocaine and Prilocaine in Emla 5% Cream work by stabilizing nerve cell membranes by blocking the entry of sodium ions through voltage-dependent sodium channels into cell membranes and this inhibits the generation of a nerve impulse and its transmission to the brain, which means that pain receptors will not receive any pain sensation, although other sensations such as pressure can still be perceived. Emla Cream 5% is absorbed through the layers of the skin, reaching the nerve endings and pain receptors, where they work together to numb the skin area before a potentially painful procedure such as an injection.

What are the benefits of taking it?

Emla Cream 5% is used as an ED (Erectile dysfunction) treatment medication, it also functions as a local anesthetic to provide analgesia (pain relief) to a local area of the skin for certain minor surgical procedures. These include inserting needles, such as taking blood samples or applying intravenous catheters; cleaning of leg ulcers; superficial surgical procedures such as split skin grafting, and superficial surgery involving genital skin. When applied to the skin before the procedure, Emla Cream 5% provides effective pain relief throughout the procedure, which continues for some time afterward.

How do I use it and its dosage?

Apply your Emla Cream 5% directly to the required skin area, such as a thick layer under an airtight dressing, at least one hour before the start of the procedure, or 30 minutes before cleaning a leg ulcer. Emla Cream 5% should not be applied to open wounds other than leg ulcers, infected or erupted areas of the skin, near the eyes or inside the ear. Emla Cream 5% provides local anesthesia for a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 5 hours and should not be used for leg ulcers for a period longer than 1-2 months, without consulting your doctor.
