Who can be prescribed Wegovy tablets?
Wegovy tablets are designed for adults living with overweight or obesity who meet specific prescribing criteria. In the UK, they're generally suitable for:
- Adults with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or above
- Or a BMI of 27 kg/m² or above with a weight-related condition — such as high blood pressure, sleep apnoea or cardiovascular disease
If you've been struggling to lose weight despite trying keto diets or juice cleanses, HIIT classes or couch-to-5k’s, you may be wondering whether prescription treatment could give you that little extra boost. At Pharmacy Planet, finding out is simple. You'll complete a short online consultation, and one of our clinicians will review your information to determine whether Wegovy tablets are a safe and appropriate option for you.
What medical conditions could affect your eligibility?
Wegovy tablets are suitable for many people, but there are some medical conditions that may affect whether they're the right treatment for you. That's why it's important to tell your clinician about your medical history when completing your consultation, even if you don't think it's related to your weight.
Wegovy tablets aren't suitable if you're pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your clinician will also consider conditions such as a history of pancreatitis, certain thyroid conditions or severe digestive disorders.
This isn't designed to stop you from accessing treatment — it's there to make sure you're prescribed the safest, most appropriate medication for your individual circumstances.
Can you take Wegovy tablets with other medications?
In many cases, yes. Taking regular medication or having an existing health condition doesn't automatically mean you can't take Wegovy tablets. Your clinician looks at the bigger picture — your current medications, your medical history and your overall health — before deciding whether it's the right option for you.
How do prescribers decide if Wegovy tablets are right for you?
Deciding whether Wegovy tablets are right for you involves much more than simply checking your BMI. Your clinician will take the time to understand your overall health, medical history, current medications and previous experience with weight loss, helping to build a complete picture before making a prescribing decision.
At Pharmacy Planet, we believe weight loss treatment should feel supportive from day one.
