If you experience frequent chest pain, you may be suffering from a common condition known as heartburn. With a few lifestyle changes and medications, this is a condition that can be easily managed. Acid Reflux is a generic description of a burning and very unpleasant pain in the chest.  It is sometimes also called a heartburn.  Acid reflux occurs when the acid from the stomach flows back up into the food pipe.  If this occurs more than twice on average over any week then it is diagnosed as GERD which stands for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.
