Secura No Sting Skin Prep Protection Spray is a skin care product from Smith & Nephew. This film creates a barrier between the skin and external contacts including adhesive dressings, stoma appliances, bodily fluids, and moisture. The film is transparent and flexible, conforming to the skin surface and remaining in place through normal activity.

The "no sting" designation refers specifically to the absence of alcohol in the formulation. Traditional skin barrier and adhesive prep sprays often contain alcohol as a solvent carrier for the film-forming polymer. Alcohol Free Film Forming Polymer

Skin Protection Barrier

Once dry, the polymer film acts as a physical barrier on the skin surface. Adhesive Preparation

The adhesive typically bonds more reliably to the smooth, dry film surface than to variable skin textures. At removal, the adhesive releases from the film surface rather than pulling directly on the skin surface, which reduces mechanical trauma and skin stripping during removal.

Rapid Drying

The solvent carrier in Secura No Sting evaporates within seconds of application, leaving a dry film ready for adhesive or appliance attachment very quickly. This rapid drying time makes the product practical for use in clinical settings and at home, where the patient or carer can apply the spray and proceed to attach the dressing or appliance without a long waiting period.

Skin Preparation

• Ensure the skin is clean and dry before applying Secura No Sting.
• Remove any previous adhesive residue from the skin surface.

Application

• Hold the spray approximately 10 to 15cm from the skin surface.
• Spray in a sweeping motion to cover the target area with an even, light coating.
• Allow the film to dry completely. This typically takes a few seconds.
• The film is dry when the skin surface feels smooth and dry to the touch, not tacky.
• A second coat can be applied over the first once dry to build up barrier protection.

After Application

• Apply the stoma appliance, adhesive dressing, or adhesive medical device over the dried film.
• Do not touch the film surface with the fingers after application and before the adhesive is applied.

Allow the film to dry fully before applying any adhesive product. Applying an adhesive over a film that has not fully dried may reduce adhesion. The film is typically dry within a few seconds of application in normal room conditions.

Secura No Sting Skin Prep Protection Spray 28ml

Secura No Sting is available in a single 28ml spray unit. The 28ml volume provides a substantial supply for regular use across multiple applications. The number of applications from one 28ml unit depends on the size of the area treated and the number of coats applied. When Not to Use Secura No Sting

• Eyes and mucous membranes.
• Open wounds or heavily broken skin where a wound cleanser or saline is more appropriate.
