Mysimba
Mysimba is a prescription medication designed to aid weight management in adults who struggle with obesity or overweight conditions. The active ingredients in Mysimba are naltrexone and bupropion, which work together to influence the brain's appetite and reward system. Naltrexone is traditionally used to treat addiction by reducing the desire for certain substances, while bupropion is an antidepressant that also helps curb food cravings.
This combination medication is thought to act on the central nervous system to regulate appetite and reduce the consumption of high-calorie foods. Mysimba is typically prescribed as part of a comprehensive weight loss program, which includes a balanced diet and regular exercise. It is not a standalone solution but rather a tool to support individuals in their efforts to achieve and maintain a healthier weight.

What is Mysimba used for?
Mysimba is designed to facilitate weight loss. This is available in a tablet form, and is prescribed to individuals who are classed as obese. These tablets are taken in conjunction with a balanced diet and exercise regime, like other weight loss medicines, to help aid weight loss.
How does Mysimba work?
Mysimba contains the two active ingredients, naltrexone and bupropion. When these drugs combine within the body, they interact with the nervous system causing it to suppress appetite and gives you more expendable energy. This involves a lack of hunger when consuming less calories and for those calories from your food to be burned more efficiently during exercise.
How do I take Mysimba?
Always follow the advice given by your healthcare practitioner and in the patient information leaflet (PIL) given within the medication box.
Mysimba is taken on a weekly basis and on a strict schedule, and should be taken exactly according to dosage. As the weeks go on, your dosage pattern will increase over a four week period until you reach a maintenance dose, which is the dose which you will stay on.
When Mysimba is first taken, a single pack of 112 tablets should last around 5 weeks and once the initial 4 week escalation dose has been achieved, a 112 tablet box of Mysimba should last you 4 weeks.
Please see the guide below containing the dosing regimen for Mysimba prior to the maintenance dose:
