AQUACEL® Ag+ dressings are antimicrobial primary dressings for use in wounds that are infected or at risk of infection. They are designed to manage the 3 key local barriers to healing - exudate, infection and biofilm. AQUACEL® Ag+ dressings incorporate proven Hydrofiber™ Technology and Ag+ Technology - a unique ionic silver-containing, antibiofilm formulation. AQUACEL® Ag+ dressings are available as AQUACEL® Ag+ Extra™ and AQUACEL® Ag+ Ribbon dressings.
AQUACEL® Ag+ Extra™ dressing is comprised of 2 layers of Hydrofiber™ Technology stitch bonded together making it 9x stronger and 50% more absorbent than standard AQUACEL® Ag dressing.
AQUACEL® Ag+ Ribbon dressing is also strengthened with stitchbonding.

AQUACEL Ag+ dressings are manufactured to contain the 3 key local barriers to healing - exudate, infection and biofilm, aiding in the healing of wounds. The unique ionic silver-containing antibiofilm aids in disrupting and breaking down bioflim to expose bacteria, aiding to prevent bioflim fomulation and helps in destroying a variety of bacteria. Hydrofiber technology helps to lock in excess exudate, and other substances to minimise cross infection and omit maceration, it micro-contours to the bed of the wound, maintaining an ideal moisture balance and removing the possibility of bacteria and bioflim growing in dead spaces and it responds to the wound bed by creating a gel that also aids in minimising the pain of dressing changes.
How do I use it?
Apply AQUACEL® Ag+ dressing directly to the wound. Ensure the dressing overlaps the wound edges by at least 1cm, cut if needed.
Caution: Sterility is guaranteed unless pouch is damaged or opened prior to use. Single use only. During the body's normal healing process, non-viable tissue is removed from the wound (autolytic debridement), which could initially make the wound appear larger. If the wound continues to grow larger after the first few dressing changes, consult a health care professional. The wound should be inspected during dressing changes. Consult a healthcare professional if you see a) signs of infection (increased pain, increased redness, wound drainage), b) bleeding, c) a change in wound color and/or odor, d) irritation (increased redness and/or inflammation), e) maceration (skin whitening), f) hypergranulation (excessive tissue formation), g) sensitivity (allergic reaction), h) no signs of healing. If you have difficulty removing the dressing, it should be soaked with water or sterile saline until it removes easily. (For partial thickness burns, please refer to the Partial Thickness Burns section of this package insert). Aquacel AG is not compatible with oil-based products such as petrolatum.
