At a glance
The key facts about switching to Wegovy tabletsSwitching is usually possible
Many people can move from a weight loss injection to Wegovy tablets when it's clinically appropriate.
Never two GLP-1s at once
Your current injection must stop before you start the tablets — the two treatments should never overlap.
Always clinician-planned
The safe gap before starting depends on your current medicine, so switching is always planned with a clinician.
Can you switch from injections to tablets?
Yes — many people can switch from a weight loss injection to Wegovy tablets, provided it's clinically appropriate and carefully managed by a healthcare professional. Whether you're on Wegovy injections, Mounjaro, Saxenda, Victoza or another GLP-1, moving to a daily tablet may suit your lifestyle or personal preference.
Never use two GLP-1 medicines at the same time. Your current treatment must be stopped before you start Wegovy tablets, and the timing of the switch depends on the medicine you're on. This reduces the risk of side effects and gives your body time to adjust safely.
For many people, switching isn't about one treatment being "better" than another — it's about choosing the option that fits your life. Whatever your reason, the change should always be guided by a clinician who can recommend the safest way to make it.
Why do people switch to Wegovy tablets?
Plenty of people are happy with weekly injections, but others find a daily tablet suits them better. Common reasons include:
Switching doesn't mean you've failed on your current medication — it's about finding what works. The easier a treatment fits into everyday life, the easier it is to stay consistent, and consistency is one of the biggest factors in long-term success.
What are the equivalent doses?
Wegovy tablets and Wegovy injections both use semaglutide, but the doses aren't measured in matching milligram amounts. The two are absorbed differently, so the tablet dose needed for a similar effect isn't the same number as the injection dose. Your clinician uses these alongside your history and response to recommend the right tablet dose for you.
| Current Wegovy injection | Equivalent Wegovy tablet |
|---|---|
| 0.25 mg / week | 1.5mg daily |
| 0.5 mg / week | 4mg daily |
| 1.0 mg / week | 9mg daily |
| 1.7 mg / week | 9mg daily |
| 2.4 mg / week | 25mg daily |
| 7.2 mg / week | 25mg daily |
| Current Mounjaro injection | Equivalent Wegovy tablet |
|---|---|
| 2.5 mg / week | 1.5mg daily |
| 5 mg / week | 4mg daily |
| 7.5 mg / week | 9mg daily |
| 10 mg / week | 9mg daily |
| 12.5 mg / week | 25mg daily |
| 15 mg / week | 25mg daily |
How do you switch safely?
Switching to Wegovy tablets should always be discussed and planned with one of our UK-registered pharmacists. The exact timing depends on which medicine you're currently taking, but the goal is always the same: no overlap between treatments.
You'll usually take your final injection as scheduled, then start your Wegovy tablets at the time your Pharmacy Planet clinician recommends. Even though you already know GLP-1 medicines, you'll still begin tablets on the dose-escalation schedule — starting low and increasing gradually — to help your body adjust and reduce the chance of side effects like nausea.
It's completely normal to have questions. Your clinician will assess your current medication, treatment history and individual circumstances before recommending the most appropriate way to switch.
What should you expect after switching?
Everyone responds differently when changing weight loss medication, so try not to compare your progress with anyone else's. Some people notice their appetite changes within the first few weeks, while others find the effects build more gradually as their dose increases. You may also experience some familiar GLP-1 side effects, such as nausea or digestive discomfort — these are often temporary and tend to improve as your body adapts.
The most important thing is to give your body time to adjust. Weight loss with Wegovy tablets is designed to be gradual and sustainable. Often the biggest changes aren't just on the scales, but in your habits — feeling satisfied with smaller meals or thinking less about food throughout the day.
If you're considering switching, our clinical team is here to help. We'll assess your current treatment, answer your questions and guide you through the process safely — so you can focus on building healthy habits and achieving sustainable, long-term weight loss.
