What is Vistamethasone?

Vistamethasone (Betamethasone) is an anti-inflammatory drop based solution designed for the treatment of the eyes, nose, and ears. This drug has a small mineralocorticoid activity and should be used with a mineralocorticoid in the treatment of adrenal insufficiency. Vistamethasone (Betamethasone) is a steroid from the group of corticosteroids that are used in medicine for its immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties. Unlike other drugs with these effects, betamethasone does not cause water retention.

How does it work?

The Pharmacological doses of betamethasone (the main active ingredient o Vistamethasone) reduce inflammation by inhibiting the release of leukocyte acid hydrolases, preventing macrophage accumulation in infected sites, interfering with leukocyte adhesion to capillary walls, and reducing membrane permeability of the capillaries. capillaries, causing a reduction in edema. In addition, betamethasone reduces the concentration of complement components, inhibiting the release of histamine and kinins, and interferes with the formation of fibrous tissue. The anti-inflammatory effects of corticosteroids, in general, are due to their effects on lipocortins, phospholipase A2 inhibiting proteins. The lipocortins control the synthesis of powerful inflammatory mediators such as leukotrienes and prostaglandins, by acting to inhibit the synthesis of its precursor, arachidonic acid.

The immunosuppressive activity of corticosteroids is due to the fact that they alter the function of the lymphatic system, reducing the concentrations of immunoglobulins and complement, inhibiting the transport of the immunocomplexes through the capillary membranes, reducing the number of lymphocytes and interfering with the reactions of antigen-antibody.

What are the benefits of taking it?

Vistamethasone is a type of medicine called a corticosteroid (or steroid). Corticosteroid medications are used to reduce inflammation.

Inflammation can occur as a result of allergies or irritations and is caused by the release of chemicals that are involved in the production of immune and allergic responses. These chemicals cause the blood vessels to widen, causing the affected area to become red, swollen, itchy, and painful.

Vistametasone uses include reducing inflammation by preventing cells from releasing these inflammatory chemicals. When administered directly to the eyes, ears, or nose, it reduces inflammation in these local areas.

How do I use it and its dosage?

Always use these drops exactly as your doctor has ordered. The instructions should be printed on the label your pharmacist has put on the bottle, but if they are not, or if you are unsure about anything, ask your pharmacist.

Never use the drops for more than seven days unless your doctor has asked you to. If your symptoms have not improved after seven days of treatment, you should stop using the drops and consult your doctor. If your doctor feels that prolonged therapy is needed, you should have regular check-ups.

If you use the drops in your eye:

The usual dose is one or two drops in the affected eye every one to two hours to start.

Once the swelling is under control, your doctor will ask you to use the drops less often. Follow the directions on your prescription label or from your doctor's instructions carefully. It is important that you do not use these drops more or less often, or for a longer or shorter period of time, than your doctor has told you.

Do not wear contact lenses while using betamethasone drops in your eyes, as they can worsen the inflammation in your eyes. The drops also contain a preservative called benzalkonium chloride, which can be absorbed by contact lenses and cause eye irritation.

It is a good idea to press the corner of your eye closest to your nose for a few minutes after applying the eye drops. This is to minimize the number of steroids that drains through your tear duct and is absorbed into the bloodstream.

If you are using the drops in your ears:

The usual dose is two to three drops in the affected ear (s) every two to three hours to start.

Once the swelling is under control, your doctor will ask you to use the drops less often. Follow the directions on your prescription label or from your doctor's instructions carefully. It is important that you do not use these drops more or less often, or for a longer or shorter period of time, than your doctor has told you.

If you are using the drops in your nose:

The usual dose is two or three drops in each nostril two or three times a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label or from your doctor's instructions carefully. It is important that you do not use these drops more or less often, or for a longer or shorter period of time, than your doctor has told you.
