Sorbsan Silver Ribbon is a sterile, non-woven, calcium alginate cavity wound dressing, impregnated with silver, high in Mannuronic acid and low in Guluronic acid.
Frequently Asked Questions
Provides a moist wound healing environment.
Conforms to the contours of the wound.
Atraumatic dressing removal.
Promotes haemostasis.
Minimises disruption to newly formed tissue.
Sorbsan is placed onto the surface of the wound and covered with a sterile secondary dressing held in place with surgical tape or a bandage as appropriate. The nature of the secondary dressing will be governed by the condition of the wound.
Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to silver or calcium alginate dressings.
Do not use on cavity wounds where the opening of the wound is smaller than the tip of the probe.
Do not use in conjunction with topical medicine.
Do not use on wounds with little or no exudate.
Sorbsan Silver Ribbon should not be used with heavily bleeding wounds.
Sorbsan Silver Ribbon should not be used as a surgical swab.
