About Rhinolast Nasal Spray

Rhinolast nasal spray contains the antihistamine Azelastine hydrochloride. Antihistamines are designed to provide relief from the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. These symptoms include; congestion, sneezing, and a runny nose. Azelastine hydrochloride has proven effective against allergies to pollens (hay fever), as well as allergies to household irritants, such as dust mites and animal dander.

Allergic rhinitis occurs as a result of a hypersensitive immune system. When an allergen enters the nose, the immune system attacks it, mistaking the allergen for something more serious, such as an infection. This will trigger an immune response, which causes the body to produce extra mucus. This will lead to symptoms that include; congestion and sneezing. Allergic rhinitis is a very common condition. In The UK alone, it affects approximately 20% of people. It is not fully understood why these allergies develop. However, sometimes they run in families.

What is Rhinolast?

The Rhinolast nasal spray contains azelastine which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Antihistamines work by preventing the effects of histamine produced by the body itself as part of an allergic reaction.

Rhinolast is used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis in adults, adolescents, and children over 6 years of age. Allergic rhinitis is an allergic reaction to substances such as pollen, dust mites, or animal hair.

It usually causes a runny nose, sneezing, itching, or nasal obstruction. Rhinolast can help you control these symptoms.

How does it work?

This allergy nose spray contains an ingredient called Azelastine Hydrochloride, which works by inhibiting the effects of histamine on those receptors that elicit the inflammatory response. By blocking this chemical reaction, the medicine helps prevent symptoms.

What are the benefits of taking it?

This nasal spray contains azelastine, which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Antihistamines prevent the effects of substances such as histamine that the body produces as part of an allergic reaction. Azelastine has been shown to reduce eye inflammation. Rhinolast is used for the treatment and prevention of eye disorders caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children from the age of 6 years. Rhinolast is also used for the treatment of eye disorders caused by allergy to substances such as house dust mites or animal hair (perennial allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children from 12 years.

How do I use it?

Always use this antihistamine spray exactly how your doctor has told you to.

  1. Blow your nose-first.
  2. Remove protection cover.
  3. Before first use, the pump should be pressed six times until constant spraying. When Rhinolast has not been used for three or more days, the pump should be pressed a sufficient number of times until a fine spray appears.
  4. Spray once in each nostril keeping the head vertical. Do not tilt your head back.
  5. Clean and replace the protective cap.

Its dosage

Always take Rhinolast exactly as your doctor has told you. Rhinolast is for nasal use.

If you are not sure of the correct dose or how to use this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years old:
