What is Nasacort nasal spray?
Nasacort contains a medicine called triamcinolone acetonide. This belongs to a group of medications known as corticosteroids, which means that it is a type of steroid. It is administered as a nasal spray to treat nasal symptoms of allergic rhinitis in adults and children over the age of 2 years.
Nasal allergy symptoms include sneezing, itching, and a blocked, stuffy, or runny nose. They can be caused by:
- Animal hair or dust mites. This type of allergy can occur at any time of the year and is called "perennial allergic rhinitis."
- This type of allergy, like hay fever, can be caused by different pollens at different seasons of the year. It's called "seasonal allergic rhinitis."
This medication is only effective if used regularly and your symptoms may not improve instantly. It helps some people from the first day of treatment, however, in other people it may take 3 to 4 days to feel an improvement
How does it work?
The main active ingredient in the Nasacort Allergy Nasal Spray is Triamcinolone acetonide, one of the most powerful triamcinolone derivatives and approximately 8 times more potent than prednisone. Although the exact mechanism of the antiallergic action of corticosteroids is not known, it is known that they are very effective in the treatment of allergic diseases.
What are the benefits of taking it?
Doctors prescribe Nasacort for allergic nasal symptoms. These symptoms can be persistent, including:
- Stuffy or runny nose;
- itchy or other irritation in the nose;
- sneezing
Allergic nasal symptoms are usually caused by hypersensitivity to pollen (hay fever), animal dander, dust mites, or other substances. The active substance in this nasal spray has anti-inflammatory properties and causes the mucous membrane of the nose to swell less quickly. This reduces or prevents nasal symptoms.
How do I use it and its dosage?
Nasacort should only be used nasally, use the Nasacort 55 mcg Nasal Spray exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again. This medication is only effective if used regularly. It may take 3-4 days before you notice an improvement in your symptoms.
