Insulatard injection solution is used to reduce high blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes. mellitus (diabetes). Insulatard is administered by subcutaneous injections, usually in the thigh. If appropriate, it is possible to inject into the abdominal wall (belly), the gluteal region (buttocks), or the deltoid region (shoulder). The hypoglycemic effect of insulin occurs when it binds to insulin receptors in muscle and fat cells, facilitating the absorption of glucose and simultaneously inhibiting hepatic glucose production. Insulatard is human insulin with a gradual onset of action and a long duration. The action starts at one and a half hours, the maximum effect occurs between 4 and 12 hours after administration, with an approximate duration of action of about 24 hours.
Insulatard is a suspension for injection whose active ingredient is human insulin. It is supplied in vials, cartridges or prefilled pens. The main benefit of Insulatard is that it is used as a treatment for diabetes. This medication can only be dispensed with a prescription.

The monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended for optimal glycemic control.
Insulin requirements are individual and are normally between 0.3 and 1.0 international units/kg/day.
