Indapamide Tablets

Indapamide tablets are a diuretic drug, the first of the indoline class, pharmacologically related to thiazide diuretics. Unlike others, this medication produces only a modest increase in urine volume. Like other antihypertensives, indapamide does not cure high blood pressure, although it serves to control it, so treatment should be continued indefinitely unless indicated by your doctor. It works by inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium at the dilution cortical segment level. It increases the urinary excretion of sodium and chlorides and, to a lesser degree, the excretion of potassium and magnesium, thereby increasing urine output and exerting an antihypertensive action.

Indapamide is a medication for controlling high blood pressure while lowering, It works by inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium at the dilution cortical segment level. It increases the urinary excretion of sodium and chlorides and, to a lesser degree, the excretion of potassium and magnesium, thereby increasing urine output and exerting an antihypertensive action.

People also ask

What are Indapamide tablets?

Indapamide is presented as a film-coated tablet containing indapamide as the active substance. Indapamide is a diuretic. Most diuretics increase the amount of urine produced by the kidneys. However, indapamide is different from other diuretics in that it only causes a slight increase in the amount of urine formed. This medicine works to lower high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults.

How does it work?

Indapamide is a sulfamide derivative with an indole ring, pharmacologically related to thiazide diuretics, which works by inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium at the dilution cortical segment level. It increases the urinary excretion of sodium and chlorides and, to a lesser degree, the excretion of potassium and magnesium, thereby increasing urine output and exerting an antihypertensive action.

The results obtained in phase II and III studies have shown that this drug exerts in monotherapy an antihypertensive effect that is maintained for 24 hours. This effect is obtained at doses in which the diuretic effects are medium.

What are the benefits of taking it?

The Indapamide medication is effectively absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, reaching the maximum plasma concentration within the first hour of administration. The antihypertensive action of the Indapamide tablets is due to the presence of the active ingredient indapamide, capable of inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium at the level of the distal tubular epithelium of the nephron, facilitating its urinary secretion and, consequently, also stimulating the increase in urine output. In addition to diuretic action, a second mechanism seems to be involved in the control of hypertension, which allows controlling peripheral vascular resistance and reducing the contraction of the vascular musculature. This effect seems to be mediated by increased prostaglandin synthesis, by vasodilator and antiplatelet action. After its effect, indapamide is excreted, largely intact, mainly through the urine.

How do I use it and its dosage?

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again. The recommended dose is one tablet a day
