Fucibet is a prescription-only eczema medication used to relieve symptoms of a multitude of skin conditions including dermatitis, bacterial infection, psoriasis, skin rashes, and cold sores. The medication is available in the cream form for topical application on affected skin.
Betamethasone and Fusidic acid are the active ingredients in Fucibet. Betamethasone is a steroid that is used to alleviate inflammation, itching and redness while Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that gets rid of infection-inducing bacteria. The medication is not available over the counter.
Fucibet is generally given to treat conditions where both skin inflammation and infection are present. It means that it is mostly used for relieving symptoms of infected eczema but also has the ability to treat a variety of other skin conditions. It should be kept in mind that the cream can only cure bacterial skin infections. It should not be used for treating viral infections, thrush, cysts, boils, warts, and spots.
The cream is quite effective as it starts showing results in a matter of days. Fusidic acid comes from the family of drugs called topical antibiotics, which stop bacteria from reproducing. Once there are no new bacteria being produced, your body's immune system kicks in to get rid of the existing bacteria relieving symptoms of your skin infection.
There are many benefits of using Fucibet including:
- Easy to use as anyone can apply the cream on affected area
- Stops reproduction of the bacteria causing infection
- Reduces inflammation and itching to relieve symptoms
Fucibet is for external use only. It should be used on affected body parts in compliance with your physician's prescription. Since Fucibet is not an over the counter medication, you cannot get it without prescription. Here is how you should apply the cream to get the best results:
- Ensure that your hands are clean before using the medication
- If you are opening the tube for the first time, make sure that seal is uncompromised
- Use the spike present on the cap to open the tube
- Squeeze out a thin layer of cream onto the affected body part and rub gently
- Do not put excessive amounts of cream on affected areas
- Allow the cream to get absorbed for half an hour before you apply anything else
- Wash your hands once you have applied the cream unless you are using the cream for your hands
Do not use the cream for more than two weeks as it may allow bacteria to develop the ability to resist. This will not only render the medication useless but will also elevate the chances of side effects.
Side Effects
Fucibet is an easy-to-use and safe bacterial infection treatment cream. Most of the patients will not experience any negative effects during their treatment period. Having said that, people respond differently to medications and there are a few side effects that Fucibet might have. It is better to be aware about the potential side effects of a medication you are going to use. Some of the common side effects include:
- Itching and skin irritation
- Skin rash, redness or dry skin
- Swelling or inflammation of skin
- Inflamed hair follicles
- Excessive hair growth
If the side effects persist or you feel excessive pain or reaction after applying the cream, stop using it right away and seek medical assistance from your doctor.
Warnings
There are some situations where Fucibet is not a suitable medication. If you have rosacea, fungal skin infection, tuberculosis, syphilis, or spots or acne around your mouth, you should avoid using Fucibet. Although Fucibet can be used by mothers who are breastfeeding, it is not suited for pregnant women.
If you are applying the cream on areas such as skin folds, damaged skin, or under dressing where there is no breathing room, the active ingredient can get absorbed into your bloodstream. This can lead to undesirable effects, which are identical to when you take corticosteroid drugs orally for long time periods. If you are experiencing symptoms like increased urination, fatigue, weight loss, or weakness for long durations, get in touch with your physician immediately.
Fucibet is usually given to people:
- atopic eczema
- infantile eczema
- discoid eczema
- stasis eczema
- contact eczema
