About Champix Tablets
Champix tablets contain the active ingredient varenicline. Champix binds to nicotine receptors in the brain, meaning that cravings are reduced and smoking becomes less pleasurable due to the reward system being blocked. Champix has been shown to more than double your chances of quitting smoking for good.
The Champix Starter Pack (0.5mg & 1mg) should be used to initiate smoking cessation treatment before increasing the dose and switching to a course of Champix 1mg Tablets. Starting with the 0.5mg tablets and working up to the 1mg tablets reduces the chances of side effects and increases your chances of stopping smoking.
Consuming alcohol while taking varenicline is thought to increase the risk of developing mood disorders or experiencing behavioural changes, therefore we would not recommend drinking while taking Champix.
Champix are medicinal tablets that promote deterrence from tobacco by acting on the brain by means of nicotinic receptors. It is a 12-week Quit smoking treatment that is administered orally. The effectiveness of this treatment to quit smoking has been demonstrated, although often to permanently quit it is good to accompany taking the drug with other measures.
Smokers become addicted to nicotine, a chemical found in tobacco. Nicotine acts on the nervous system, where it’s binding to a series of receptors causes the release of a chemical messenger, dopamine, responsible for the pleasant sensation produced by smoking. The active substance in Champix, varenicline, can bind to some of these receptors, the nicotinic α4β2 acetylcholine receptors. When bound to these receptors, varenicline acts as two ways: same as nicotine (partial agonist), helping to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, or against nicotine (antagonist), taking its place, and helping to reduce the pleasant effects of tobacco.
Champix contains the active substance varenicline. Champix uses include assisting adults to help them quit smoking as it is a stop smoking medication, it also helps alleviate the anxiety and withdrawal syndrome associated with quitting smoking. Champix can also reduce the pleasure of cigarettes if you smoke during treatment.
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If in doubt about the Champix dosage, consult your doctor or pharmacist again if you
You are more likely to quit smoking if you are motivated to do so. Your doctor or pharmacist can provide you with additional advice, support, and information to help you ensure that your attempt to quit smoking is successful. Normally before you start your treatment with Champix you must decide a date during the second week of treatment (between the 8th and the 14th day) when you will stop smoking. If you do not want or cannot set a date to quit smoking in those 2 weeks, you can choose your date to quit smoking within 5 weeks after starting treatment. You should write this date on the packaging as a reminder.
