Celiprolol
Celiprolol tablets are a cardioselective beta-blocker with partial agonist activity and slight vasodilator effect that despite retaining a chemical structure similar to that of other beta-blockers, the presence of the dimethylurea group gives it a series of differential pharmacological characteristics, such as its high hydrophilicity, which makes it difficult to access to lipid-rich tissues such as the CNS.

Celiprolol tablets are a cardioselective beta-blocker with partial agonist activity and slight vasodilator effect that despite retaining a chemical structure similar to that of other beta-blockers, the presence of the dimethylurea group gives it a series of differential pharmacological characteristics, such as its high hydrophilicity, which makes it difficult to access to lipid-rich tissues such as the CNS.The heart consumes less energy and prevents pain from angina. Because the heart beats more slowly and with less force, the pressure with which blood leaves the heart into the blood vessels is reduced, making it used in the treatment of high blood pressure.
Celiprolol is a medicine that belongs to the group of beta-blocker medicines. Beta-blockers block beta receptors that exist in the heart, lungs, and other organs. Blocking beta receptors in the heart decreases the heart's need for oxygen, slows the heart rate (negative chronotropic effect), and decreases the force with which the heart muscle contracts (negative inotropic effect).
Celiprolol is a selective blocker of beta-1 adrenergic receptors (cardioselective), which has a mild intrinsic sympathomimetic action (beta-2 agonist activity) and produces a weak alpha-2 receptor block, giving it a certain vasodilatory action peripheral. Celiprolol does not have a stabilizing effect on the membrane.
This medication is hydrophilic and does not cross the meningeal barrier, and does not increase airway resistance.
Celiprolol tablets, being beta-blockers, have been shown to be one of the most useful pharmacological groups in the area of High Blood Pressure Medication (HT) and angina chest. All of them are competitive inhibitors of beta-adrenergic receptors with a chemical structure similar, but exhibit different pharmacological characteristics: selectivity, intrinsic sympathomimetic activity or partial agonist, membrane stabilizing action as well such as lipo or water solubility. Based on these properties, they are currently classified into 4 groups.
One of the latest beta-adrenergic blocking drugs that has been commercialized is celiprolol, which also has a series of differential characteristics that may offer advantages over beta-blockers already existing.
Follow exactly the instructions of administration of the medicine indicated by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.
Celiprolo is administered orally. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
Take the tablets at the same time, preferably in the morning, at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after breakfast. Your doctor will decide how many Celiprolol tablets to take based on your illness.
Adults
In the treatment of high blood pressure, the recommended dose at the start of treatment is 200 mg (one tablet) once a day.
The dose may need to be increased, after a few weeks, to 400 mg (two tablets) or even 600 mg (three tablets) depending on your condition.
Your doctor will decide what is the most appropriate dose.
In the treatment of angina pectoris, the recommended dose is 200-400 mg (one to two tablets) once a day.
In the event that you have hypertension (high blood pressure), your doctor may decide to combine your treatment with other medicines to lower blood pressure (diuretics) and to monitor your blood pressure on a regular basis.
Use in children and adolescents
Celiprolol is not recommended for use in children or adolescents.
Use in elderly patients
Normally you will not need a different dose than that recommended for other patients. However, your doctor may carry out regular check-ups to assess the function of your kidney and liver
Like all medicines, Celiprolol can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
