Changing The Day You Take Wegovy: What You Need To Know?

Wegovy is a prescription medication used for chronic weight management. It's a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which means it mimics the effects of a natural hormone in your body called GLP-1. GLP-1 helps regulate blood sugar and appetite.
Wegovy is a once-weekly injection, and it's important to take it consistently to get the best results. However, there may be times when you need to change the day you take your Wegovy injection. It’s easy to forget to take might be going on vacation or have a busy work week.
Can I change the day I take my Wegovy dose?
The good news is that you can change the day you take Wegovy, as long as it has been at least 3 days (72 hours) since your last injection. This is because Wegovy needs time to be fully absorbed into your body and take effect.
Here are some important considerations when changing your Wegovy injection day:
- Once you've selected a new dosing day, stick to that schedule for future injections.
- Don't take a double dose of Wegovy to make up for a missed injection.
- If you miss a dose of Wegovy and it's within 3 days (72 hours) of your next scheduled dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. Then, take your next dose on your regularly scheduled day.
- If you miss a dose of Wegovy and it's more than 3 days (72 hours) since your last injection, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on your regularly scheduled day.
Here are some additional tips for taking Wegovy:
- Take Wegovy at any time of day, with or without food.
- Inject Wegovy into your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
- Always use a new needle for each injection.
- Dispose of used needles safely in a sharps container.
