Fexofenadine is an antihistamine used to alleviate allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, itching eyes/nose, runny nose, sneezing, hives, and itching. It works by blocking a specific natural substance called histamine that your body makes during an allergic reaction.

3. Soothe your skin

When your skin is dry and itchy, you are tempted to scratch. To calm the itching, keep your skin moisturised by taking frequent baths and cooling the affected area. There are different ways to cool your skin, including:

  • Applying an anti-inflammatory cream as prescribed by your physician
  • Applying a cold compress
  • Positioning yourself in front of a fan

4. Wear loose, light clothing

Constant pressure and friction of the skin can worsen your hives. Avoid wearing tight clothing and ill-fitting shoes as hives can also appear on the feet soles. Choose loosely fitting and soft fabrics clothing.

5. Talk to your physician about a vitamin D supplement

Add a vitamin D supplement to your treatment to reduce the symptoms of chronic hives. A daily supplement of vitamin D3 along with regular allergy medication can reduce hives symptoms. Talk to your physician about the possibility of adding a supplement to your hives treatment.
